WARNING: This drug can cause serious fetal harm (sometimes death) if used during the last six months of pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs, stop using this drug and immediately contact your physician.

USES: This medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

HOW TO USE: Use exactly as directed by mouth one hour before meals, usually once or twice daily. The full effect on blood pressure is usually seen in 2 to 4 weeks. Before using any potassium supplements or salt substitutes with potassium, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

SIDE EFFECTS: Cough, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea or fatigue may occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Report promptly: headache, persistent sinus congestion. Unlikely but report promptly: irregular heartbeat, chest pain, painful urination, cloudy urine, unusual change in amount of urine, muscle weakness or cramps, persistent sore throat and fever. Very unlikely but report promptly: fainting, vomiting, bloody or black/tarry stools, easy bruising or bleeding, one-sided weakness, increased thirst or hunger, rapid weight gain, mood/mental changes, vision changes, vaginal bleeding, sexual problems. This drug may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver problems. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention: yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, persistent fatigue, persistent nausea. In the unlikely event you have a serious allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling (especially of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
